The Hirundo Cellar dates from 1908, when Count Bonmartini founded the original cellar, part of a vast agricultural estate.
Hirundo, from the latin "hirundo", means swallow. The Count chose this name to underline the link between the migrating movements of the swallows and the two most important dates in wine production. Harvest coincides with their departure in September for warmer climates and the bottling process in spring with their return. The morainic hills where

the vineyards are situated are still a stopping place for the migrating swallows.
The farm has an extremely important history, being one of the first cellar to propose spumanti produced from Lugana grapes. These grapes, grown in vineyards located in Selva Capuzza estate, are harvested by hand and the vinification is developed inside a special caveau in Colli A Lago cellar, where specialized workers make the remouage manually.
